Island Hills Chorus is an Award-winning organization of female singers, meeting regularly to  rehearse, harmonize, develop, perform, perfect, socialize, sing, and just have fun! We currently have over 35 singers of all ages, from all walks of life, and from all parts of Long  Island!  

We are a Suffolk County based chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an active  organization of over 25,000 women worldwide who love the barbershop sound and the shimmering harmonies of a cappella music. The Island Hills Chorus is more than an a  cappella experience, though. It is a family of women who love sharing friendship and making great music together. Learning not only the music, but how to make that music expressive to our audience provides a great sense of personal fulfillment to our members.  And doing that along with the friends you’ve created makes that experience that much  sweeter! 

In addition to sharing our music, we are passionate about learning and practicing the art of a cappella singing. Our singers join with various backgrounds in music – from music teachers to shower stall singers who can’t read notes – and we help each other to improve.  Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals and a very important component of  the chorus experience. In addition to instruction by our multi-talented directors, we have the good fortune to have specialized coaching in areas such as vocal production, expression, and choreography from visiting masters in the art of barbershop. We love learning more about our art! 

Above all, we love to perform. Our scripted shows have been enjoyed by the patrons of many public libraries, and our small groups have entertained for nursing homes, assisted living, and adult day care settings. We have opened the holiday season by serenading shoppers at local festivals and shops. We also have had the honor of singing the National  Anthem and patriotic music at Duck Stadium a few times. And our members will never forget the times we took the stage before the show at Radio City Music Hall or sang for an art show at the United Nations!  

We can provide quality entertainment for your company-sponsored event, church social, family reunion, downtown festivals, public or private parties, surprise singing telegrams for any occasion, club events, or any situation where musical entertainment is desired.
